Arowana Care Book

Been busy lately setting up something for you arowana/fish lovers…

Hi all,
Some of you had probably wondered why I've been missing in action for more than a month now! Actually I've been busy setting up a couple of things for you arowanas/fish lovers. :-) Had to decide what I wanted to do first but have now settled on 2 projects that I will be launching soon.

1) I think some of you know that I have wanted to setup a forum for sometime now but the problem was I already saw many arowana forums already available out on the web. I was reluctant to start another one unless I could make it a bit different. Then I received an email several weeks back about a software that I could use to setup a community site like myspace or facebook. Now this I felt was definitely something different and worth looking into!! I have done a bit of research and exploring and have already installed the software but will play with it a bit longer so that I know a bit more on how to set it up right! :-) This community sites will allow you to create profiles, upload your fish photos/video and also have a forum in it as well. I hope that this will be a community site for all fish lovers, and not only arowanas ok. Anyway hang on there and I'll have this site up live soon. (I hope!) If anyone who is IT savvy and would like to help me with the testing and setup, I would be forever grateful! :-) You can drop me an email at steven@arowana-care.com if you have experience with testing and running of community sites. Thanks in advance.

2) This second project is a fish material site. (concentrating on arowana info initially) Well it started off as an arowana book site but I decided to make it broader and will also include books about other fishes as well. Most of these books will be books that I already have myself (especially the arowana books) and which I think will interest you. I have already contacted many of the publishers and they have stock for most of the books I will be recommending. However I must say, with the weakening US dollars, the shipping charges now have increase quite a bit I must say. I hope it recovers soon so that I can lower it. I should be able to launch this site in a couple of weeks time.

Let me know your thoughts about this. Anything else you would like see happened, do let me know. Cheers!
Steven

Thanks Steven, will always look forward to anything you do. I do understand the amount of pains you take to bring in life to fish keeping as a hobby.Since, I am not computer savvy, I fail in lot of attempts to communicate to you, other than using your own mail for reply.

When I use your e mail ID, the mail returns undelivered, since it is not to yahoo, hotmail or g mail.

Steven, if I flew to Singapore, how difficult would it be to export a few fish to Thailand? There are flights to/from Phuket/Singapore without going through Bangkok.

David Rucker in Phuket @ 12:00 pm

Steven, if I flew from Phuket to Singapore, how difficult would it be to return with a few Arowanas?

Steven @ 12:25 pm

David,
It depends on whether you know how the customs in Thailand works. You need to find out the procedures about bringing livestock into thailand.

Steven @ 12:26 pm

Shankar,
You need to bring your PC to a computer specialist in your town to have a look. The possibilities on why it does not work is to many. Sorry I could not be of better help.

hi Steven! We're all looking forward to that! i have 2 questions though and i hope you can help me out. my friends aro has pop eye - it looks like a telescopic goldfish. is this a bacterial problem or a problem with too much aeration? ive read different stuff online. is this still treatable? its been like this for over a month. Also, i plan to add another aro into my aro community - currently 3SRs and 1Xbk around 18in each. i want to add another SR at around 20in. any advise as to how i can mix the new one smoothly? They'll be fighting for sure, but how can i decrease the chances of them killing the new SR? thanks a bunch!

posoy @ 5:21 am

where i can buy asian arowana that dont have problem coming back in US?

April 3, 2008

Steven @ 10:29 pm

Posoy,
You cannot buy asian arowanas in the US. The US govt has not rectified the CITES agreement on the endangered asian arowanas yet.

Steven @ 10:36 pm

Stevie,
1) The condition is called droopy eyes and is more a cosmetic issue. It is not fatal.
2) If the two aros have not brought up together from young, they will fight abd it is fatal most of the time. I would advise doing this. It is not worth the risk! :-)

Dear Steven

I added one new Sting Ray to my Arowana tank (Two silver and One peral). Can i use general medicine to the tank? Is it harmful for my sting ray?

Waiting for your reply

Anto

Steven @ 12:23 am

Anto,
Not sure what you mean but if your fishes are not sick, don't add any medication at all. This is not good for them.

Steven
