My arowana just lost some scales today!!
Man! I usually sleep pretty late at night and my arowana did something it had not done for quite some time now! I heard two loud thuds and I was wondering what it was doing.. so I went to check on it…. Just when I was reaching the tank, it jumped against the cover again with another loud thud! So I climbed up a chair to see what was on the lid that got it so worked up this time! It was a moth on it… Guess it was kinda doing it's thing trying to jump up to catch the insect!
Anyway it lost some scales doing that… 3 infact!
I am sharing this because I wanted you to know that it is pretty normal for it to do that. It will probably bruise its mouth and lose some scales but not to worry, the bruise wil heal and the scales will grow back!

Wow man that is crazy. I have young jardini arawana and he spooks real easy
My last water change he freaked out a little bit and one of the rocks in my tank took off 2 scales he seems to be fine now fed him some crickets after so it is good to know they grow back. I just hope he gets used to me doing things to the tank so he dodoesnt do that again.
