Fish farm sues firm for $1m over dead fish (Arowana fish.. not guppies!)
There was an interesting article in today's Singapore papers (The Straits Times Oct 16 2006). I quote ..
"A fish farm is seeking about $1 million in compensation for prized fish it claims were killed by the negligence of a construction firm…….
The fish farm in Pasir Ris Farmway 3 is claiming damage for the 42 golden dragon arowanas, loss of future income from breeding the fish, and repairs to the pond in which they were reared…….
Golden dragon arowanas can cost between $500 and $10,000 each, depending on age, size and breed, say fish enthusiasts…."
Is this a ridiculous amount to sue for? Personally, I think not! If that pond is really productive, it can give you more than $1m/year…. This is the reason why many people are trying to get into this business but I must say, the barrier to entry is pretty high and also getting the right mix of arowanas in the pond takes a bit of work and some luck..
Something to ponder about ya!
